13 Nov

Starting on Tuesday 10th January, the Churches in Cottenham present The Marriage Course; a fantastic seven week course for any married or co-habiting couple, at the Community Centre Coffee shop. The course is ideal for any couples who are wanting to deepen their relationship, or who may be struggling with certain aspects of married life, or simply for those who want to spend some quality time together! There is no group work at all!

The course, while based on Christian principles, is very helpful for any couple with or without a Christian faith or church background.

La Dolce Vita – Free Talk on how to add 14 years to your life

14 Sep

Cottenham Community Centre on Tuesday evening 18th October will be positively good for you

Want to know how to (possibly) add 14 healthy years to your life? Hear local GP Dr.
Simon Poole share his enthusiasm for the wonderful diet of the Mediterranean and
explain how it can be a healthy way to eat.

Dr. Poole will be repeating his highly successful talk on a “positively good for
you” lifestyle given earlier in the year to packed audiences at Swavesey and
Impington Village Colleges. “With a title like that you might expect me to be selling
something….well, I am not!” says Dr. Poole. Nor does he describe himself as
a celebrity chef, but he clearly has a passion for creating simple and everyday
meals, combining fabulous taste with nutrition that can contribute to maintaining an
optimum state of health and wellbeing.

Learn about the aspirin-like substances in rosemary, the omega3-rich eggs of Crete,
and the protective antioxidant properties of olive oil, wine and…chocolate! Become
inspired by fabulous tasting food. Join us for an evening of celebration of a natural,
colourful and healthy diet and lifestyle. Dr. Poole will provide shopping plans,
ingredient lists and fantastic recipes to include in our daily lives.

The talk starts at 7.30p.m and attendance is FREE.

Jacket potato, panini and baguettes with a selection of delicious healthy fillings
and salad garnish, prepared by Jane Hackshaw and her team will be available in
the CCC Coffee Shop from 6.00 – 7.00p.m. So come early and enjoy meeting up
with friends old and new, beforehand. (£5 per person covers choice of food and
beverage – pre-booking is needed.)

Space is limited so to guarantee your place, make sure you collect your tickets for
the talk and food NOW, from the CCC Coffee Shop (Mon-Sat 10.00 – 14.00) or The
Corner Shop on Cottenham High Street (Tel. 01954 252350).

Available seats on the night will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Big opening on 6 April for community centre in Cambridgeshire

Cottenham Community Centre is to have its official opening ceremony today, Wednesday 6 April.

Converted from the former Methodist church, the Cottenham Community Centre (CCC) coffee shop is staffed by local volunteers and now provides a much-needed meeting place for villagers young and old.

Three plaques dedicated to founding Trustees are to be unveiled which were made by a local craftsman from the wood of the old pulpit.

CCC has been supported by the Methodist Church and many local public organisations and businesses.

Eddie Murphy, Chair of the CCC Trustees, said:

“The Cottenham Community Centre coffee shop has been a fantastic success since we opened in February. It has been busy most days and the buzz has been fantastic. The official opening on 6 April is a chance to thank the many people who have contributed to the success of the venture, particularly the funders, the members and the volunteers. It is now a hive of activity and is fast becoming a hub for village life.”

Media is invited to send cameras and photographers.

Venue: Cottenham Community Centre (the old Methodist church), opposite the Co-operative. As there are no parking facilities on-site please call for advice on where to park.

Date: Wednesday 6 April

Time: 10.30 to 11.00
